Medical Provision in the United States

Political Barriers

Politics plays a greater role in the hindrance of medical provision in the United States. The issue of health care reform revealed different views of the White House and Congress on how it is going to be implemented. Congress is against the health care reforms that were proposed by the Obama administration. It is overwhelming to see that, despite these political barriers, Remote Area Medical volunteers still manage to deliver medical care to the people of America (RAM, 2014). The world media have played an important role, despite the political barrier in the country. The media have attended medical events and reported their positive aspects. The media support the events by attracting more people to come out and receive medical care. It has also made more medical practitioners want to volunteer.

Volunteering has shown the government that it needs to be serious about implementing its health care program since many people are suffering as a result of a lack of medical services and access to health insurance. Health care became more expensive over the last century. More diseases have also emerged, leading to many deaths across the world. Health care spending has gone up in medical spending. If the government does not intervene anytime soon, the situation may get worse.

Resource Barriers

The other barrier to the free medical provision, that Remote Area Medical faces, is a lack of resources. For example, there is an inadequate number of medical personnel and a lack of money to buy the required facilities. The scenario in Tennessee is overwhelming. The turnout was quite convincing. It is unfortunate that some had to be turned back due to a lack of enough practitioners. Everybody who contributed to donating in any way is much appreciated. If more people contribute to the event, more Americans will have access to free medical care. There is a need to increase the number of medical practitioners in the country. That is why ObamaCare will see the number of medical practitioners increase in the country. There is no doubt that the country faces a shortage of doctors. More Americans should be assisted by the government to get medical insurance.

The free medical check-up was safe because medical practitioners who volunteered had a license in their medical field. The law is only applied in Tennessee and it should be implemented nationally. If the legislation was adopted nationally, it would prevent volunteers from malpractice lawsuits. Medical practitioners should be allowed to exercise medical practice in any state they wish. Through this volunteer, doctors will not be limited to borders and will not feel the threat of facing lawsuits. If such laws were implemented, the situation of people going back due to the lack of enough doctors during health care events will never happen again.

Remote Area Medical is doing a good job of serving mankind through the provision of free dental care, health care and educating people in rural areas of the country and other parts of the world (RAM 2014). More partners are encouraged to join Remote Area Medical so as to reach out to more people in all parts of the world. The partners should not necessarily be from the medical field. Every individual has a personal responsibility to enable Remote Area Medical to become a success in all its programs.
