Supporting the HR Function Retention Within the Organisation

Ways HR Activities Support the Organization and Enable It to Meet Its Goals and Business Objectives

Human resource activities play a very critical role in supporting this organization to achieve its goals and objectives. The first area of support that this firm gets from the HR department is the implementation of the strategic policies derived from the vision and mission statement. This department has been in existence within this firm since its inception. Employees at this firm understand its vision statement and are best placed to work towards its realization. They will understand when they are requested to work for long hours to meet the set objectives in various departments within the firm. Handing over the department to an outsourced firm may make it challenging for this firm to achieve its current plans. The new employees may not understand the dynamics of this organization, especially if their turnover is high (Balasubramanian 10).

The HR department has been playing a critical role in research and development at this firm. Employees working in the marketing, production, transport, and warehousing units have embraced the concept of continuous quality improvement through creativity and innovation. They feel that they are part of the organization, and therefore, are keen to come up with new ways of achieving success in the market. Eliminating them from the organization may mean losing all the talents that have been created over the past years. When they are retained, they will help this firm to achieve its objective of becoming a leading company in this industry.

Recently, the marketing department of this organization launched an ambitious campaign to increase the market share of the firm by 25% by the end of the year. This was in response to the increasing threat of competitive rivalry in the market. The HR department, in collaboration with other departments, had organized all the employees and each one of them was assigned specific tasks. This goal can only be achieved if the department remains within the firm. Any disruptions may make it almost impossible to achieve this goal.

Ways HR Professionals Support Line Managers

The HR professionals within this department have been playing a major role in supporting the line managers in various ways. The first area of support is regular research. Line managers must be informed of the events which are relevant to their departments. They may not have time to gather these pieces of information daily. Some of them may afford to leave their offices. They rely on HR professionals to provide them with vital information.

HR professionals have been an important link between line managers and junior employees. They have enabled these managers to understand employees and come up with ways of motivation using non-monetary policies. This has promoted the growth of this firm that has been witnessed in the recent past.

The HR professionals have been supporting the line managers to interpret some of the policies and strategies developed by the senior managers. In most cases, these line managers are expected to interpret policies and break them into actionable instructions that can be passed down to junior employees. The HR professionals have been helping in such critical tasks.

Ways HR Professionals Support Staff

HR professionals within this department have been playing a critical role in enhancing the capacity of the employees to achieve success in their assigned duties. In most of the cases, these professionals have been offering in-house training for the employees as they work on various projects. This has promoted skills and a level of confidence among the employees of this firm.

These professionals have been instrumental in enabling employees to interpret instructions that come from the line managers. Some of the employees may be slow in understanding these concepts. Instead of the line managers wasting a lot of time explaining these instructions to such employees, these HR professionals would come in and help in addressing such problems. They have also been keen on monitoring how the employees undertake their duties from time to time to identify any mistakes early enough and find effective solutions before time and economic resources are wasted.

The HR professionals have been an important source of inspiration to employees of this firm. There are cases when these employees are faced with various occupational and personal problems that limit their capacity to deliver quality work. These professionals have psychological skills to identify these problems and address them to ensure that employees remain productive at all times (Blake 339).
