Project Management and Leadership Aspects

Application of 21 irrefutable laws in the current society

Anybody who wants to achieve the heights of power must have leadership skills in his life. Anything that an individual wants to achieve or to accomplish is greatly restricted to his or her ability to lead others. This is applicable in politics and business management.

Any company that its leadership is not stable will always fall as the shareholders, for example, will give up and toss away (Dorio, 1994). In politics, if the country is in a mess the voters have all the rights to toss out the leading party. When I relate it with the current sports system, for example, if the team is in a mess, the couch is always replaced. In short, these laws are greatly important in almost every aspect of life (Dorio, 1994).

Here is a list of the laws (Kerzner, 2009); the law of the lead, the law of process, the law of influence, the law of steering or navigation, the law of solid ground, the law of addition, the law of intuition, the law of respect, the law of the inner circle, the law of magnetism, the law of connection, the law of the picture, the law of empowerment, the law of legacy, the law of explosive development or growth, the law of sacrifice, the law of timing, law of priorities, the law of buy-in, the law of victory and lastly the law of the big momentum(Mo) (Hegar, 2012).

Wrong project manager

I have worked in an organization where the senior manager is ever in conflict with staff members who work under his supervision. He bulled them both physically and verbally. Bullying is common among managers regarding their employees. Those at the top bull their juniors and as a result, instill a feeling of fear. Some managers also fail to trust their employees (Hegar, 2012). Such managers, for example, lead to reluctance in the workplace if the manager is not present, and as a result employees may withdraw their involvement in that given workplace (Young, 2004).

Avoidance is one of the weaknesses a manager may have especially in times of difficulty. To avoid bad leadership, principles and regulations of work among managers should be put into consideration. They should be trained on matters of leadership skills. For one to become a good leader, he or she must know what is required of him or her (Young, 2004).

Planning

Planning is an essential element in politics and business organizations. Planning serves as a guideline to all matters about management (Kerzner, 2009). “Failure to plan is planning to fail” planning helps in the following ways; planning helps managers develop attention toward the objectives of the company. It also diminishes uncertainty and alterations within the company. Besides, it helps in the provision of a meaningful direction. Planning is also essential when it comes to leadership and co-ordination, it is important when it reaches issues of decision making and so on (Hegar, 2012).

Problems with staffing

Differing outlooks, priorities, and interests

The main problem does exist when the staff members have professional objectives and interests that are different from the project objectives. These given problems are multifarious when the staff relies on other organizations’ supports that do not have the same interests and objectives (Kerzner, 2009).

Role conflicts

The growth efforts of the team or staff are ruined when a conflict exists among the team members e.g. who should perform various responsibilities and within or outside the support groups (Kerzner, 2009).

Objectives of the project

An undefined project objective often may lead to conflict and struggles of power. Sometimes it becomes very difficult to define roles and responsibilities clearly within the organization (Kerzner, 2009).
