This is because the management of this industry is impossible without systematic accounting, analysis, control, and planning. This requires prompt and accessible information that will be received in real-time. Moreover, there are standards for implementing such systems, as they play an important role in providing medical care and data exchange.
The system of standards in healthcare is a well-established mechanism for the coordination and approval of innovations in an information system. In addition, standards also monitor the performance of certain functions (Wager et al., 2013). It is important to note that the implemented information system will meet all the requirements of a healthcare organization only if it is appropriately integrated (Negash et al., 2018). For this reason, the entire functioning of the new system requires support from the organization implementing this or that innovation. The information system must comply with the standards and data exchange process of medical care for patients implemented in the clinical institution. In addition, it must comply with the principle of confidentiality and ethics since its functions include the exchange of information, which may involve personal data.
To ensure the quality of services provided in this area, it is necessary to have standards for health promotion in hospitals. Gnanlet et al. (2019) emphasized that “major impediments of implementation include lack of risk assessment and safety measure during the adoption stage, physician resistance, standardized training and negative viewpoint in the integration stage” (p. 136). Several steps can be applied to verify that all new information systems comply with the standards. First, it is necessary to appoint a person responsible for innovations who will carefully monitor all processes and identify potential problems and risks. It is also possible to analyze data on the operation of new systems, collecting feedback from people who directly interact with them. This knowledge will also give a picture of whether the requirements and standards are being met.
The use of information technologies in medical data processing has significantly intensified and reduced the cost of treating patients. Therefore, introducing new information technologies, especially concerning data transmission, is a somewhat complex process. For the successful application of innovation in healthcare, it must meet specific standards. To verify compliance with these rules and regulations, institutes of medical care can apply various steps. This will help to achieve more effective and productive results.
